Sunshine Coast singer Beth Lucas is releasing a beautiful new song, Rearview Mirror, tomorrow, but Countrytown is exclusively premiering the track today.

Opening with a tender verse exploring her lower register, Rearview Mirror opens up in the chorus to expose Lucas’s beautiful range. It’s a song reminiscent of early Taylor Swift, displaying a confident country-pop edge dominated by acoustic and slide guitar and a vocalist who carries a crescendo within a special song.

In a press release, Lucas explained, “The song acknowledges the time I needed for self-understanding. I questioned some of the personal and career choices I had made and came to embrace their necessity for progress, using the rearview mirror as a metaphor for gaining clarity in my present day through my past experience.”

You can listen to Rearview Mirror below.

Rearview Mirror was recorded and produced by James North (Karise Eden, Tom Oliver, Andy Penkow) and features US drummer Travis McNabb (Sugarland, Megan Moroney, Little Big Town). The song arrives after Lucas performed multiple sets at this year’s Tamworth Country Music Festival and ahead of her upcoming trip to Nashville, which is currently in the planning stages.

Last year, Lucas was named the recipient of the Keith Urban Scholarship and went on to graduate from Australia’s Academy of Country Music.

2023 also saw her open tour dates for international singer Alexandra Kay and become part of Australia’s country music scene after winning the Ekka Country Music Showdown Talent Search in Brisbane. Following that win, she opened for Australian stars Adam Brand, Taylor Moss and Matt Cornell.

In August, Countrytown premiered Lucas’s first country song she had ever written, Home Town.

The single was written by Lucas and produced by multi-instrumentalist and award-winning producer Michael Moko (Melody Moko, Hayley Marsten, Catherine Britt). Only her second alt-country single – her first, Life Of The Party (Song For Erin), arrived in February – she sounds and looks confident and assured in her country music journey.
