Hailing from the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, country pop singer-songwriter, Jake Davey‘s latest single, Ends With Y tells the story of a first interaction between two people, knowing straight away it’s “not just another girl”… that one person who makes you realise not to take anything for granted and appreciate each moment.
Written with Canadian songwriters, Lydia Sutherland and Warner Music Nashville’s Robyn Ottilini (and co-produced by Jake with Rhys Zacher, with Lydia Sutherland also appearing on backing vocals), Countrytown has your first look at the music video for Ends With Y in this exclusive premiere.
The music video was shot at the iconic Newcastle foreshore in the early hours of a cold winter’s morning with film crew, Tommirock. A simple but effective video that aims to showcase the song, its melody and production.
Jake says, “It’s always a pleasure working alongside Tommirock to bring a song of mine to life. This particular morning was more challenging than previous endeavours being 5 degrees, 6am and in the middle of winter, but it was worth it!”
Jake has been honing his craft in music since the age of 6. Still in his early 20s, Jake is also an accomplished producer who runs his own studio. Following the release of his 2019 debut single On Your Mind, Jake won the 2020 ‘Travis Collins Scholarship’ to attend the CMAA Academy in Tamworth, which lead to his first-ever publishing deal and a collaboration with Golden Guitar winner Kevin Bennett on his second single Think of Me, which debuted at #2 on iTunes.
Jake has played major festivals including the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Wingham Akoostic Festival, Lakeside Festival, and Country at the Beach, and supported artists including Diesel, Daryl Braithwaite, Rick Price, Casey Donovan, Taylor Henderson, Travis Collins and The Viper Creek Band. Drawing from influences like Old Dominion, Dan + Shay and Keith Urban, Jake has shaped himself into a formidable musician who embraces a modern country sound.
The anthemic track, Ends With Y is a follow up to his most successful single so far, The Way She Does – we premiered the music video here. Released in February this year, the track garnered positions on the Countrytown Music Network Hot 50 chart as well as the Spotify Fresh Country playlist and has over 415,000 streams on the platform to date.
