The heartbreaking ballad, Damn, I Tried by Brooke Lambert is our Song of the Day!
Originally from Gosford but now calling the Gold Coast home, Brooke wrote the track after a friend told her to write a song about how she was feeling following an unexpected break-up. Through tears and straight up hyperventilating, she penned the track in around 15 minutes and recorded it a week later with Jared Adlam at Machine Lab Recording.
Brooke says, “For 2 years, I truly thought I had it all. Then I was ghosted out of nowhere, with no explanation, and I thought my life was over. In that first 72 hours of darkness, I cried non-stop and it felt like my worst nightmare was on a continuous loop. I kept convincing myself my best friend had died because the person I knew would never do this.”
She adds, “I’m so proud of what I’ve made out of such a shocking situation. Heartbreaks are so painful but the only choice we have is to accept that some things aren’t meant for us, and to move on.”
Damn, I Tried follows the lyrically-brave Smile Again, and the two-track singles Two Thousand and Eighteen featuring Never Love and S—t, It’s You and Two Thousand and Seventeen featuring Outta My Head and After All.
Brooke released her debut EP Right Now in 2017, which came in at #4 on the iTunes Country chart on the day of its release. She has performed at Broadbeach Country Music Festival, Tamworth Country Music Festival and the Backroad Bash Music Festival and supported acts including Kirsty Lee Akers, Josh Setterfield, Neilly Rich and The Choirboys.
