The new single from Melanie Horsnell is Daisy A Day. A lovingly pieced together cover of the 1973 classic by Jud Strunk.

Jud was known for his comedy songs, appearances on 70’s television such as The Johnny Carson Show and the hugely popular comedy sketch program 'Laugh In'. But it was in 1973 with this suprising, sweet and sentimental ballad titled Daisy A Day, that the comedian and musician broke out.

The song went on to be a international sensation reaching the #1 spot on the Australian charts. Now, Candelo based singer-songwriter Melanie Horsnell has add her bit to the legacy of Daisy A Day.

"It’s a beautiful love song, and when I first heard Jud Strunk sing it I loved his gentle honest phrasing and story of good long love. Something I imagine we all wish for. A good song doesn’t need a lot on it because the story cuts through so the production is simple, drums, pedal steel wailing, just classic. And it’s nice to have these musical companions as I sing solo a lot, enjoying breaking down beautiful covers I love to just guitar and vocal, but it’s a real treat to have put this rendition of Daisy A Day together with Michael and Jy. I also had a big smile when I got a message from Jud’s son Joel from America yesterday on my Facebook page, saying he thought the arrangements were fantastic and that we’d done a good job, wow! That was pretty special!" Said Melanie
