Tamworth 2021 cancelled due to COVID19!

The 2021 Tamworth Country Music Festival has been officially cancelled after the Tamworth Regional Council unanimously voted to suspend the event due to COVID-19.

“Tamworth Region Councillors tonight voted to suspend all Tamworth Regional Council run events for the 2021 Toyota Country Music Festival, Tamworth,” event organisers wrote in a statement.

“With the current public health orders in place, which include the prohibition of music festivals and mass gatherings, coupled with travel restrictions and venue capacity challenges, Councillors could not in good conscience vote to proceed with the event.”

In a statement earlier this week reported on Countrytown, Tamworth Regional Council's Festival Manager, Barry Harley flagged that the council would be presented with the recommendation to cancel the event.

"The events industry has been thrown a severe curve ball this year with most festival and events of any size cancelled. The medical advice that we’re receiving is that it’s absolutely illegal to run a music festival.

In more positive news, the council revealed the 49th Golden Guitar Awards would go ahead as planned.

"Meanwhile, I can assure you that the staging of the 49th Golden Guitar Awards will take place... It's important that we continue that 49 years of unchanged events, so that we can celebrate correctly the 50th in 2021." Said Harley.
