Our Song of the Day is Born This Way by Canadian masked country musician, Orville Peck. Peck’s ‘Country Road Version’ of the titular track is the second song to be taken from a special 10th anniversary edition of Lady Gaga’s second album Born This Way, following Big Freedia’s re-imagining of Judas.

The anniversary edition of the album will be released on June 18, and feature all 14 songs from the original plus six tracks from different artists who are representing and advocating for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Peck tweeted, ““I am so honoured and excited to be a part of the iconic legacy of this song and album. Thank you @ladygaga for asking me and Happy Pride y’all!!”

While other collaborators will be revealed in the coming weeks, the tracklist promises fresh remixes of Highway Unicorn (Road To Love), You and I, Marry the Night and The Edge of Glory.

Peck recently teamed up with RuPaul’s Drag Race star/fellow country singer Trixie Mattel for a cover of Johnny Cash’s Jackson, and in 2020, he worked with Shania Twain on his song, Legends Never Die as well as with The Unrighteous Melody and Paul Cauthen on Unchained Melody / You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'.

He released his debut album, Pony in 2019, which won the ‘Best Country Album’ award at the 2020 A2IM Libera Awards (where he also took home the award for ‘Breakthrough Artist). An EP Show Pony followed the year after, which appeared on several Billboard charts in the United States, reaching 8 on Americana/Folk Albums, 20 Top Album Sales, 46 on Top Country Albums, and 50 on Top Rock Albums.
