American singer-songwriter and television personality, Blake Shelton has released his new single, Minimum Wage about the classic hallmark in the country music, how the riches of love don’t come with a price tag attached.
Written by Nicolle Galyon, Corey Crowder and Jesse Frasure, Blake says, “I heard Minimum Wage over a year ago and connected with it immediately. It’s the timeless truth that you don’t need a lot of money or possessions, you just need love.”
“I relate so much to the lyrics of this song. I have a lot of great memories playing dive bars in Nashville and then driving back to Oklahoma to play a gig. I gravitate towards songs that feel like stories of where I’ve been and where I am currently in my life, and I’ve got a lot of happiness in joy in my life these days.”
Minimum Wage follows back-to-back love songs with his fiancé and fellow The Voice coach, Gwen Stefani. Nobody But You and most recently, Happy Anyway both reached No. 1 on the US country airplay charts, giving them consecutive No. 1 singles together. Furthermore, Blake has released 40 charting singles, including 28 number ones, 17 of which were consecutive. His eleventh No. 1 titled Doin’ What She Likes broke the record for the most consecutive No. 1 singles in the Country Airplay chart’s 24-year history.
Blake began his career in 2001, with his first single Austin from his now platinum-certified debut self-titled album. Fast-forward to 2019, when the nine-time Grammy Award nominee released his 12th studio album, Fully Loaded: God’s Country, which includes his most successful singles from the two previous albums (If I’m Honest in 2016 and Texoma Shore in 2017), along with four new songs and a cover. The singles, Hell Right (his second duet with Trace Adkins after 2009’s Hillbilly Bone) and the title track, co-written by Devin Dawson our recipient for Song Of The Day, also feature.
Minimum Wage is out now.
