Our Song of the Day is Before Summer Starts To Fall by Troy Kemp and Katrina Burgoyne. Co-written by Australian country artists Kemp and Burgoyne, who both now call Nashville home, the upbeat summertime single is about not leaving one box un-checked on your summer bucket list. Also with his hand in the co-writing, the production of the song and music video was American producer and videographer, Steve Kinney.

When asked about the tune Burgoyne and Kemp said, “Before Summer Starts To Fall is a song about getting out and enjoying those last hot days of summer before the cool of Fall [Autumn] sets in. It’s that one last chance to enjoy cruisin’ top down, feet on the dash, skinny dipping, margaritas, dancing, jumping off the pier, summer flings, beach bonfires, white sand, a cool breeze blowing through palm trees and the waves rolling in.”

Perhaps best known for being one half of McAlister Kemp alongside Drew McAlister, Kemp released his debut solo album Against The Grain in 2015. He picked up a Rob Potts ‘New Talent Of The Year’ Award at the 2018 CMC Awards for his duo project Tailgate Drive with Damien Baguley from The Viper Creek Band, and his duet of Hung Up On You with songstress Jayne Denham was nominated for ‘Vocal Collaboration Of The Year’ at the 2019 Golden Guitar Awards.

With multiple Australian country chart and CMC #1 singles, a Golden Guitar, three CMC Awards, three People’s Choice Awards, a Frank Ifield International Spur Award and almost a decade of touring under his belt, Kemp is one of Australia’s most recognisable country music talents.

Raised in regional New South Wales, Burgoyne moved to Nashville with $15,000 and a dream. Restricted by her visa to making an income solely from playing music, she hit the ground running in the most competitive music city in the world. The two-time Golden Guitar nominee’s impressive career includes an Australian Country Music People’s Choice Award, Australian Songwriters Association Country Song of the Year, and APRA Professional Development Award.

She’s also written for many artists, including a track for Lisa McHugh that was the most Shazammed song in all of Ireland, and has toured with Kasey Chambers, Shane Nicholson and Catherine Britt and opened for The McClymonts, Troy Cassar-Daley and American country music group, Lonestar.
