CountryTown in partnership with iHeartCountry Australia is proud to announce Thomas Rhett as our Artist Of The Week, following the release of his double album, Country Again: Side A.

With Side B planned for release later this year, Country Again: Side A is entirely co-written by Thomas and is the result of a return to his initial inspirations as a young songwriter with a new perspective that comes from the challenges of 2020 and life in-between. It's a musical and thematic return to his roots for Thomas, an embrace of the sounds, stories, and methods that drew the singer-songwriter to country music, yet required ten years of life experiences to have the perspective to write them.

He says, “This record is a big ol’ culmination of a decade worth of living. These are the songs I wish I could have written as a 19-year-old, but I didn’t have the knowledge or the life lessons yet.”

The first single from Side A, What’s Your Country Song? has been branded as a ‘feel good anthem’ and earned the highest chart debut of his career as country radio’s most-added song with 150 stations, debuting at No. 18 on Billboard’s Country Airplay Chart and No. 25 on the Mediabase/Country Airplay Chart. It currently sits at #5 on the Countrytown Music Network Hot 50 chart.

Born into a musical family, Thomas has carved out a stellar career in country music just like his father, singer-songwriter Rhett Atkins. Growing up around other singers including Tim McGraw and Brooks & Dunn, Thomas began learning to play drums in high school, later joining his father onstage to play. He released his 2013 debut album, It Goes Like It, which features previously released singles from his prior self-titled EP release.

Since then, Thomas’ four studio albums have produced 16 multi-platinum and gold-certified #1 singles, nearly 10 billion streams, back-to-back GRAMMY nominations and Billboard 200 debuts. Furthermore, he was recently named ‘Male Artist of the Year’ at the 2021 ACM Awards, adding to his already impression collection of trophies from CMA Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, CMT Music Awards and more.

Also a talented songwriter, the 31-year-old has written singles for Jason Aldean, Lee Brice, Florida Georgia Line and Michael Ray, among others. He also co-wrote Old Dominion’s Some People Do, which was nominated for a 2021 GRAMMY Award in the ‘Best Country Song’ category.
